From the Sketchbook

Here are some more doodles from my sketchbook. I've been getting excited about continuous contour line drawings again and I've been trying a few new things. Once I have something worth sharing I'll post it. Oh! And have you listened to M Ward's newest album? I mean, dang!

Ballers

Here are a few continuous contour line drawings from my sketchbook. 

It's simple: you put your pen down and draw one line without retracing or picking up your pen until it's finished!

The drawings are from this book of basketball history from the library and Noah just loved the book! Ever since we checked it out he is always drawing "basketballs", no matter what marks his crayons and markers make.

Grandma and Grandpa Gone for the Year

The best thing I heard Grandma say during her entire trip was when she was showing us pictures on her camera... "Here's a photo of the Christmas lights and here's one of Dr. Jensen. I have to get rid of one of 'em."

HOW TO MAKE THESE PICTURES

1) Go to the flippin' Thanksgiving Point Museum of Ancient Life
2) Draw some fetchin' dino skeletons and rub your pencil over some of the exhibits
3) Draw the flippercrotchin' children digging in the sand for dinosaurs.

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3!

With Arms Wide Open

Bears. Snow Bears.

Why didn't someone tell me I liked snow bears so much? I would have started drawing these guys AGES ago!

They have such playful characteristics: their fur, their eensy-weensy head, the black nose and eyes on white bodies...wow.

The snow bears on bottom are so happy because they caught some yummy fish.

More drawings from my sketchbook! Hooray!

I spent about a minute on each of these. I love trying to get different textures out of the pencil, and making the drawing compliment what the subject really is.

My favourite is the second from the top: folks handing things out, reaching, grabbing. Heck--I'll post it twice!

Sketches

These sketches are from a series of 10-40 second drawings I made. The top image was done in class and I'll prolly post more from the same session. The other drawings I made from
observations of people walking down hallways, sitting down, folks at the mall, etc.
